Palmers Of Trent Bridge Nottingham Reviews

No, Palmers aren't cheap. In fact, we threw a lot of money their way. But we're delighted with our bathroom, now it's finished.
We had useful and friendly help with design and choosing fittings (which must come from products they sell), and this included a home visit and two showroom visits, as well as many emails - always promptly answered.
But there are two massive reasons we're so glad we went to Palmers.
Firstly, there's the seamless project management. Once we'd emptied the old bathroom and cleared a space in the garage to store new fittings, we didn't have to worry about a thing - everything and everyone arrived just at the right time, including the skip, the fittings and the appropriate workers. And the different tradespeople worked with each other perfectly too.
Secondly, there's Mick and his team. I don't know how good the other fitters, who didn't come to us, are; but the experience we had with Mick and the others who worked in our bathroom must be the best experience we've ever had with tradespeople in our house. They were friendly, polite, as clean as could be hoped for, punctual, covid-safe, and extremely skilled at their trades. No corners were cut. The finish we were left with exceeded expectations. Mick also came back to help us when we had a few questions after the install was finished.
Is there anything that could have made our Palmers experience even better? Maybe a little more information about the products we were getting (such as the shelving layout of the vanity unit) would have been useful. And Palmers don't do painting, so after they'd put up new plasterboard and skimmed it, it was left to us to paint it (although it was carefully timed for the weekend between the two weeks of work). It would have been brilliant if we didn't have to do that either.
The tradespeople left the bathroom quite clean, and we even got a voucher for a free professional clean to use additionally.
We did pay a lot, but for us it was worth it in terms of stress removal and the great new bathroom we now have.

Avoid, great service until they have your money.
We had a 13-unit, 5-appliance kitchen with an estimated 3-week installation. It took 13 weeks in total, during 7 of which we had no cooking facilities. There was a catalogue of errors: the kitchen was measured incorrectly so it wouldn’t fit the space; tradesmen fitted it incorrectly so the oven wouldn’t fit between the worktops; the worktops themselves were 21mm too low for the hob. Each subcontractor passed the buck with things they didn’t know how to finish to the next person to put right. We had the MD of the company tell us it was ‘normal’ for an oven to sit this high above the worktop and ‘impossible to fix’. After a lot of stress we eventually got this put right. We had tradesmen trying to overcharge us and harass us for money for ‘cash jobs’, when we thought we’d purchased a professional installation service.

The installation team were frankly useless and apathetic. The majority of the project management was done by ourselves, despite paying Palmers for a hassle-free, one-stop installation. Their installations team seemed incapable of picking up the phone or even returning calls. Days went by with no contact, not knowing if anyone was going to turn up. After it was finally finished we had no contact from Palmers. We contacted them weekly and after 3 weeks managed to talk to them to find out the MD had been ignoring us. We managed to finally get the skip off the drive that had been there for 4 months, though they’d forgotten about it. Unsurprisingly, a mealy mouthed apology was all we received. Two months later and we’re still waiting on paperwork we requested, and won’t be holding our breaths.

You can tell a lot about a company by how they handle a situation when things go wrong, and I can safely say that Palmers were a disgrace from start to finish. We’d never recommend them to anyone.

We had a terrible experience with Palmers. Design was fine but the use of sub contractors was a complete nightmare! They were rude and the workmanship was shoddy. The day after they left the bath leaked into the kitchen and they repaired it by cutting a hole in the kitchen ceiling. We have never been able to use the bath and last week we found out why. We took the side off the bath to find the waste pipe had been cut too short so every time you filled the bath the pressure of the water caused water to leak out. Palmers were not interested and never compensated us for the repairs to the ceiling.

My parents recently had some work completed by Palmers and I'm disgusted at how poor the service was once the work commenced....the work too a week longer than expected, the workman was slow, untidy and not employed by Palmers (contractor) so there was a disconnect between the two. When we complained to Palmers they simply didn't care. we've since spoken to friends and other workmen about Palmers and have realised that this is common practice, their reputation isn't good at all...just wish we'd known this before my parents agreed to the work. We certainly wouldn't recommend them.
