This pub is the brewery tap for Castle Rock Beer but retains its old fashioned atmosphere as a pub where the main objective is to serve good beer at reasonable prices. There is a wide range of real ale with a changing variety of gas beers. Food is basic but good. Not a place to for a sophisticated dining experience and little in the way of luxury in the surroundings but an excellent place to while away time with friends who like good beer and conversation. The service at the bar is friendly and efficient. It is a pity there are not more pubs that go for excellent simplicity like this does. One free pint for every Castle Rock pint. Also an interesting collection of malt whisky for those who like a dram.
