This place has seriously gone from bad to worse, with time. As soon as we entered and were hardly through the entrance doors, a lady erupted on the scene and told us the rates, rather tersely almost bordering on enquiring whether we were sure we could dish out the required dole( though not in our Sunday best, we wore apparel befitting weekend revellers) !! We refused a table stark at the entrance and asked for one onlooking the street and to the corner, offering a hint of privacy in a rather overcrowded bazaar type environment. The ambience, furniture and upholstery does not befit it’s location at the centre of activity in Nottingham !! We ordered our drinks and confirmed three out of four sans ice. The waitress reconfirmed our choice of no ice prior to disappearing. To our amazement (not!!) the drinks arrived with chunks of ice in all of them- on being reminded, that we did ask for sans ice, the lady acknowledged in agreement, but acted as if she was helpless to address it- on pressing further, the ice were promptly removed from the drinks!! The cutlery was shabby and food was served in dirty containers and appeared to be stale and reheated and re-served for a while. It was boiling hot and on asking for the air con to be turned on, a rather helpless waitress went to ask and returned with a sheepish reply of ‘not working’- we asked for change of tables and despite an entire area of free tables, were refused an adequate change. Escalating the above to the guy at the till (describing whom as rude and impolite would be an understatement), was like breaking your head against an obstinate wall in addition to imploring high blood pressure upon ones being !! The impudent being, far from lending an ear or at least feigning an attitude of helpfulness, put up an air of conceited disdain- I cannot comprehend who has trained this inhospitable character and let him lose in the business of ‘hospitality’. Lesson learned- do not spoil your perfect weekend by going to Maysum, Nottingham- well even if they pay me, I ain’t going to touch it with a barge pole, matey !!
