Purchased car in 09.12 Less than a month later found that alternator was faulty.(08/10/12 to be exact) Upon asking for repair was told "wear and tear item not covered". But eventually an agreement was come to that i would pay towards the repair. (Some thing I have learnt in the mean time I shouldn't have had to do.) But it would be until the 14/11/12 until the car was repaired.Due to the mechanic being away and the owner being on holiday for several weeks. So this morning 11/11/13 I have found out that the alternator that I paid to be replaced was of sub-standard quality and that it has not lasted even one year.Upon contacting the garage all I got was "wear and tear part no warranty".With me asking about sale of goods act where by the part should be expected to last longer than 12 months, the nice owner of the garage put the phone down on me. Which leave me no real choice but contact citizens advice/trading standards.
