This is one of the oldest Societies in the UK. In a prime location - you pass us on the way to the castle - we members own the building and there is much going on within.

At present, physical changes are being made throughout eg, facilities on the first floor and new lighting in the gallery. Regrettably, we do not as yet have our desired lift, to allow access for all, but we are looking into funding.

Throughout the year, the spacious ground floor gallery of St Luke's House offers exhibitions of local artists', and Members' work, usually between 10.00am and 16.00hrs. You will need to check before visiting.

On the first floor, the Society now holds a range of classes for art enthusiasts, and enquiries are welcomed. Please search our website for news of what is on offer this coming autumn.

On the top floor is the Studio and a small library, where daily, members hold working groups for still life, draped life, life, portraiture in media of choice. Opportunities to extend vision, skills and techniques are enjoyed in these untutored three hour sessions. Models will require some extra finance to cover their fees. We take turns to make tea & coffee during the break .

There is a sense of family as we work and get to know each other. Various meetings are held by appointed committees to maintain the running of and opportunities within this registered Charity.

We look forward to hearing from you - whether it be regarding your visit to an exhibition;even better, your enquiry to have your own show, or, your interest in a class.

Membership allows great opportunity to develop as a working artist. To exhibit in one of the Societies Shows members are invited to offer examples of work and sketch books, to assure a sound basic standard of ability, skills and concept. This takes place Spring and Autumn.

We welcome any enquiries, by e-mail, telephone or in person during gallery opening hours.. See our web-site for details.    31-07-15
