The Foresters Inn Nottingham Reviews

Avoid the place if the barmaid is on.

I was with my partner, trying to get served was a nightmare as she was screeching at her mates from the end of the bar, taking absolutely no notice of customers at the bar. Her language was foul to say the least especially as we were newcomers to the pub. It wasn’t what we expected.
Compared to the Foresters, back street pubs in Liverpool are refined and welcoming.

Several real ales are available but I only tried one before my partner wanted to get out.

The beer I had was well kept so credit to the cellar man, the rest of the place is an unfriendly dump.

Talking to one of the customers while having a cigarette in the street I asked if it was always as bad. Apparently when the landlord is there he keeps an orderly house.

I may give it a go on my own………….

Watch this space……………

I was unfortunate enough to call in on a Friday night. An awful drag act in what I believe is normally the pool room made the main room uncomfortably noisy. An attempt was being made to drown out the drag act with the juke box. The result being a cacophony of noise. The main bar area is a little spartan, the pool room depressingly dark.

Three real ales were on offer, a nice touch being the chance the sample a third of a pint of each for the price of a normal pint. There’s no point listing the beers as they change every few days. According to the landlord they try to keep at least one dark ale on the pumps, either a mild or a porter. It would seem the landlord has a free hand in the choice of beers, his preference being local breweries such as Lincoln Green which despite it’s name is brewed in Nottingham. That said, he won’t sell Castle Rock.

There is a snug which is quieter but you still can’t escape the combined noise of the other rooms. It’s a well appointed room spoilt by a pool table dominating the centre.

The smoking area resembles a builders yard due to the works being carried out on the upper floors. Most of the regulars choosing to hang around the entrance doors to smoke.

The general impression is the Foresters Inn is a pub for locals and not welcoming of newcomers.
